University Projects

As a recent Media Studies graduate, I spent four years enhancing my Adobe Creative Suite Skills while learning new ones. For the last two years of my studies, I decided to declare an emphasis in Media Business. My courses were focused on the fundamentals of advertising, marketing and professional selling.

From posters to RFP’s, below are some my favourite assignments from my time at the University of Guelph-Humber!

Alter Ego: Master Pieces

Out of all of the assignments that I have completed in my life, this one was my absolute favourite. In my second year of University, I was assigned to visually create my alter ego. Thus, I decided to turn myself into the jigsaw puzzle version of the Mona Lisa.

In my opinion, life is like an unfinished puzzle that you get one piece closer to solving with every new experience. With each experience I am able to get another piece closer to becoming my idea of “perfect”. That’s when I thought of naming my alter ego Master Pieces which is a play on word with Masterpiece and puzzle pieces. To complete the look I wanted to imitate the most famous Masterpiece of all, The Mona Lisa.

Using Photoshop, I took a picture of myself posing as The Mona Lisa and turned it into the jigsaw puzzle version of the painting.

Emerge 2020: Marketing Makeover Challenge

During my last semester of university, I participated in Emerge, an annual capstone project for fourth year media studies students. There are many different sectors associated with Emerge but the one that I was a part was the Marketing Makeover Challenge (MMC). Groups of five to six students were each assigned with an existing company to create a new marketing campaign for them. Students met with company representatives to find out what their marketing problems were and how to fix them. After ten weeks, groups would present their campaigns to the all MMC groups and companies.

The company that my group was assigned to was PhotoEd, a magazine brand that showcases Canadian photographers. One of the components of our marketing campaign was a new website design. Using Photoshop, I created an “infinite scroll” website mockup to give PhotoEd an idea of what a user-friendly site with display could look like.

Emerge 2020: RFP

Every year Emerge holds three to four events to get Media Studies students in earlier years networking and career building opportunities.

Here is the RFP that my group put together as a proposal for an event. We decided to propose an alumni panel and networking event for current students to hear some helpful tips on how to navigate through the rest of their university careers from recent graduates.

Band Poster: Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals

This assignment was to design a poster that highlights a Musician, their band and the impact their music has on society. The artist that I chose was Anderson .Paak and his band The Free Nationals.

I chose him because his music has the perfect balance between an old school and modern day sound. I believe that anyone of all ages would be able to find an Anderson .Paak song that they enjoy because his music is so diverse yet unique. His use of live instruments mixed with modern producing techniques creates a 70’s funk and jazz atmosphere.

I used image tracing and other Illustrator techniques to transform and create all of the imagery. Then I added text and put together all of the elements using InDesign.

Changing the Game Campaign: RFP

For one of my Professional Selling classes we were assigned to create a partnership pitch for an existing New Balance campaign as Spotify. In groups of four to five people, we were tasked to create an RFP and present our partnership idea to “New Balance” at the end of the semester.

Sketch Campaign

For one of my Digital Design classes, we were tasked to create an advertising campaign for Sketch. This non-profit company focuses on giving at risk youth a safe space to express themselves through art.

The following are billboard and bus shelter designs that I created for my group.
